Bq to Sv: Why There Is No Direct Conversion

Becquerels and sieverts describe different physical quantities. A Bq value alone is not enough to calculate a dose in Sv.

Becquerel measures activity

1 Bq = 1 nuclear transition per second. Activity describes how frequently radioactive transitions occur in a source.

Sievert measures dose

Sievert is used for dose equivalent and effective dose. Those quantities depend on more than activity alone, including the radionuclide, radiation type and energy, exposure geometry, duration, distance or intake pathway, and the dose model applied.

No universal Bq → Sv factor exists. A calculator that multiplies every Bq value by one fixed number to produce Sv would be physically misleading.
